Tapestries
Handwoven on looms using plant-based fibres, these tapestries work with the inherent behaviour of the material. Through braiding, crossing and skipping threads, the fibre shifts in volume, density and form. Undyed, naturally dyed and synthetically dyed strands introduce nuanced tonal variation; open sections and frayed edges let air and light move through them.
Two core bodies of work shape the current exploration. One focuses on braided structures, creating small spatial pockets inside the loom so fibres can intertwine and connect on their own terms. The other draws on triangular constructions to test tension, pushing how far the fibre can hold shape. Suspended, these pieces become wall works, room dividers or soft architectural forms.
